About Country Care Homesitting Service

Customer Reviews & Thanks

Thank you Debbie for taking such good care of us - It's nice to know you're coming when we miss Henry and Ma so much. We really appreciate your cuddles!

Love, Falstaff & Ophelia

Many thanks again for a job well done. It is wonderful to go away and have peace of mind regarding our pets and our home. It looks like you had a big challenge with the water leak - thank goodness you were here to find it before it got worse! We had a wonderful vacation - thanks for your contribution.

Sincerely, Linda

Thanks again Debbie. Don't know what we would do without you!

It's nice to go away and know the cats are happy and that you're checking the house.

Thanks, Lois

Thanks Debbie - We really appreciate the wonderful way you care for our house and Lady.

Debbie, thanks for checking everything. We're not sure what you do with Cleo because she is so affectionate after your visits and hangs around much more than usual!

Rates & Services

Service Rate
Initial ConsultationNo cost
Empty home visit (no pets, but includes plants & other services)$18 per visit
Home with pets (any number, including cats and small animals, but NO dogs)$20 per visit

Initial Consultation

At your convenience, before you leave, Debbie will visit your home to chat with you about what will be done each visit. You will provide her with a spare key to use, as well as your contact information during your absence, and the phone numbers for emergency contacts, insurance, contractors (snow/lawn), your veterinarian, home alarm company, etc. She'll get to know your pets and their habits, and will take notes regarding feeding times, favourite toys, and any other pertinent routines or quirks.

Additionally, you'll get to know Debbie as a reliable and experienced petsitter, and be given reference information if desired.

Daily Notes

For every visit to your home, Debbie will provide you with a brief journal entry detailing the condition of the home, the mood and behaviour of your pets, and any other items of interest. These notes will be available to you to consult on your return for your peace of mind.

Home Care

Country Care will ensure your home is secure and maintained, with a "lived-in" appearance while you are away. This includes bringing in the mail, turning lights, TV or music on or off, watering plants, filling bird feeders, minor snow clearing, dealing with contractors for snow or grass, checking sump-pumps, and any other duties specified by the client.

Home intruders often look for particular signs that a home is empty. A dark home with closed curtains, a stuffed mailbox, piling snow or uncut grass, and without the evening sounds of TV or radio is a cue that the residents are away. A housesitter that attends these tasks can reduce the risk of theft or damage to your home.

Empty-home visits are usually every 24, 48 or 72 hours, in compliance with your home insurance policy.

Cat Care

Debbie is a cat-lady through and through! She has years of experience in cat cuddling, nutrition, and general health. Cats are most happy when left in a familiar environment while you're away: having a friendly daily visitor will ease their loneliness, and they'll be much less stressed than if kenneled or brought along on vacation.

A visit to a home with cats will include: fresh food and water, playtime, letting outdoor cats in or out, cleaning litter boxes, light grooming, cleaning related to pet mishaps, and lots of petting and attention.

Debbie will keep in touch with your veterinarian should troubles occur.

Small Pets

Pets such as birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, and insects will be fed, have cages cleaned, and be petted (where applicable!).

Because dogs are naturally pack animals, they often become stressed when left at home alone for long periods of time. If you are planning a vacation, Debbie would recommend kenneling your dog, or having it stay with a friend or relative. Country Care Homesitting Service does not look after dogs or provide walking services, but some recommended businesses for dogs are provided in the links section.
